Sr Sesilia Ioane csn

When I first uttered the words, “I would like to become a nun,” I couldn’t believe that I said it. I had always thought that I would marry and have children. But Mr Right didn’t appear on the scene. However, Mr Perfect came and took me by the hand and said: “Be my spouse and follow me!”

Sr Winnie Yau's Story

Image‘Come, Follow Me’

‘I think it is quite impossible for me to become a Sister.’  I can still remember saying this to my friend in the early 1990s, when I had just finished my studies and started my career in an accounting firm.  At that time, I enjoyed working, spending time with my family and friends; I also liked doing voluntary work and joining church activities to deepen my faith.  But, I did not think of joining a religious congregation, for I did not think God would call a person like me.  I am not good at taking care of the sick, I do not know how to teach, I am not a youth work.  How could I be God’s instrument to bring other people to Him?

John Paul II on Consecrated Life
Image“Your vocation, dear sisters, has led you to religious profession, whereby you have been consecrated to God through the ministry of the Church, and have been at the same time incorporated into your religious family.  Hence, the Church thinks of you, above all, as persons who are “consecrated”:  consecrated to God in Jesus Christ as his exclusive possession.
