Bishop Christopher Prowse

ImageTestimony of Bishop Christopher Prowse, Auxilliary Bishop of Melbourne

I became a priest because I felt Jesus calling me to this special vocation. Jesus calls me still. It is a gentle but very deep invitation everyday to be the sort of person Jesus wants me to be. I have become a servant in the Church. I proclaim the Good News found in the scriptures. I lead the people in the celebration of the Sacraments and encourage the community of the parish to grow in faith.

It is never boring being a priest. There is so much variety. I teach theology - the study of God - and try to encourage seminarians and lay people to be educated better in the Catholic faith.

Every person must strive to be happy in life. I find I grow in happiness whenever I pray both on my own and in the community called Church. The Catholic Church is our wonderful mother in which the riches of Christ are so fully found. The more I serve in our Church the more I truly feel "at home".
